Plot

The short film, Love, Rewritten is about Lauren Bailey and Dayton Hall. Two thirty year olds who were high school sweethearts once upon a time. Until Lauren's dad suddenly passed away. Lauren and her mom moved away without a word, leaving her and Dayton to never see each other again, until now, 13 years later. The two spend time together to learn each other again as adults, and to discover if the bond that they once had could withstand the trauma of her past and the passing of so much time. In the end, Lauren must determine which is more important, clinging to fear from her past and what could happen, or letting herself experience true love.

Logline

After years of protecting herself from the pain of a tragic loss, Lauren’s past comes rushing back when an old flame returns, offering her the chance to love again.

Theme/Tone

The tone and theme of the film are very similar to those of familiar black, romance favorites Love Jones (1997) and The Photograph (2020). The theme focuses on relationships, healing, and the impact past trauma and loss can have on present day emotions and relationships. While the tone of the film is meant to be emotional, realistic, and contemplating of how we let our own pasts and traumas affect our present day emotions and romantic relationships.
